Hotel de Ville

Paris
Hotel de Ville seats the City Hall Council along with holding certain receptions that take place in the city. The Mayor of Paris and local administration are housed here.

Communist extremists set fire to the building back in 1871, leaving only the bare frame of the building to remain. The whole building was redesigned by the 1880’s and kept with the style of the 1880’s.

The statue of Etienne Marcel cannot be missed in the front of Hotel de Ville in the garden section, and there are 108 statues throughout the building symbolizing famous Parisians. A further 30 statues signify different French cities and the clock in the tower features different sculptures celebrating the city of Paris and the famous Seine river.

You will find Hotel de Ville on the 4th arrondissement and the area surrounding is mainly pedestrianised.
